Bill White’s interest in painting began while he was still a child. He attended The Philadelphia College of Art, (now The University of the Arts) and Tyler School of Art at Temple University. A Professor of Art at Hollins University for almost 40 years, Bill continues to paint in his studio in Troutville, VA located in Botetourt County.
Although Bill prefers to paint in oil, he frequently uses other mediums including watercolor, casein, or gouache. The subject matter of his paintings includes landscapes as well as interiors and still life. His oil paintings are known for their sense of light by color and paintings can range between small 10 to 12 inches up to larger 5 feet work.
Several of Bill White’s work have been featured in the annual Open Studios Botetourt tour. Bill’s work can be seen at The Market Gallery in Roanoke, Warm Springs Gallery in Warm Springs, and The Nelson Gallery in Lexington. Work shown by appointment.
